Lumpinee Stadium: The Legend, the Fight Nights and How to Get Tickets

For more than 60 years, a Lumpinee title has been one of the most prized belts in Muay Thai. The stadium has moved since many guidebooks were written, and it now hosts two very different weekly shows. Here's its history, and what you need to know to watch a fight there.

A short history of Lumpinee Boxing Stadium

1956 — the opening. Lumpinee Boxing Stadium opened on 8 December 1956 on Rama IV Road, near Lumphini Park. General Praphas Charusathien drove the project, and it was Bangkok's second national stadium after Rajadamnern. It has been run by the Royal Thai Army ever since, which makes it different from every other major stadium.

The years of the great champions. Fighters such as Samart Payakaroon, Dieselnoi Chor Thanasukarn and, later, Saenchai made their names on Lumpinee cards. Winning a Lumpinee belt meant you were among the best in the sport, and that reputation is a big reason the stadium is famous outside Thailand.

2014 — the move. The old Rama IV Road stadium held its last fight on 8 February 2014. Lumpinee reopened at a new purpose-built venue on Ram Inthra Road in Bang Khen, northern Bangkok, with its first fight on 11 February 2014. Old guidebooks and some taxi drivers still send people to Lumphini Park, but the stadium is no longer there.

2023 — ONE Lumpinee. On 20 January 2023, ONE Championship held the first ONE Friday Fights card at Lumpinee. In Thailand the series is called ONE Lumpinee. It made Friday night at the stadium one of the most widely watched Muay Thai shows in the world.

What's on at Lumpinee now

The current calendar has two regular shows. Always check it before you plan a trip around a date.

ONE Lumpinee (ONE Friday Fights), Friday

  • Gates 18:30, first bell 19:00 on the current listing.
  • A big TV-style production with lighting, walkouts and a broadcast to an international audience.
  • Muay Thai bouts are three three-minute rounds in 4 oz gloves, which tends to make fights aggressive from the start. Many cards also include kickboxing and MMA.
  • Seats: Ringside ฿5,000 · Cat 1 ฿3,500 · Cat 2 ฿2,500 · Cat 3 ฿1,000 (prices listed in October 2026).

Lumpinee Super Champ, Saturday

  • Gates 17:30, first bell 18:30.
  • A fast-paced card with Thai fighters and international challengers.
  • Seats: Ringside ฿2,000 · Second Class ฿1,500 · Third Class ฿1,000.

Which should you choose? If you follow ONE Championship, or you want the biggest production, go on Friday. If you want a Lumpinee weekend card for less, go on Saturday. For more on prices, see our ticket price guide.

Where to sit

The current Lumpinee is a modern bowl-shaped arena with clear sightlines to the ring.

  • Ringside is right up against the ring and closest to the fighters' corners. It's the best seat for the main events.
  • Second Class (Super Champ) and Cat 1 / Cat 2 (ONE Lumpinee) are raised behind ringside. You see the whole ring, and the crowd around you makes these seats the best value.

Getting to Lumpinee

The stadium is at 6 Ram Inthra Rd, Anusawari, Bang Khen, Bangkok 10220. The best way there is the MRT Pink Line to Ram Inthra 3: take Exit 2 and walk about 10 minutes. From Sukhumvit, take the BTS to Wat Phra Sri Mahathat and change to the Pink Line for one stop. By taxi, allow 30–45 minutes from central Bangkok. Step-by-step routes are in how to get to the stadiums. Your QR ticket is scanned at the gate.

Lumpinee or Rajadamnern?

Rajadamnern is older, more central and has fights almost every night. Lumpinee has the Army's history and the Friday ONE show. Our Rajadamnern vs Lumpinee comparison can help you choose, or you can simply go to both.
