Rajadamnern Stadium
Rajadamnern Stadium, established in 1945 following the initiation of Field Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram, is Thailand’s first standard boxing stadium and accepted as a stadium with beautiful location and architecture around the world. The boxers fighting at this stadium include Pon Kingpet, Chartchai Chionoi, Venice Borkhorsor, Payao Poontarat, Khaosai Galaxy, Ratanapol Sor Vorapin, and Chana P. Paoinn. At present, Rajadamnern Stadium is air-conditioned, which is why the boxing fans call it “Vic air” (or air-con stadium) and has been renovated by Rajadamnern Co., Ltd. The company has subleased the land from the Crown Property Bureau having Mr. Chalermpong Chiewsakul as a stadium manager. The stadium hosts championship matches both for Thai and international boxing from a mini flyweight (105 lb) to middleweight (160 lb). Boxers who win at this stadium are seen as Thailand’s champions. The Rajadamnern Stadium runs boxing matches every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 18.00-21.00 pm, and Sunday from 17.00-21.00 pm, except Buddhist holidays.

Lumpini Boxing Stadium, one of Thailand’s standard boxing stadiums equivalent to Rajadamnern Stadium, was established in 1956, hosting the first match on 15 March with the official opening ceremony on 8 December. Lumpini Boxing Stadium has a long history, organizing a great number of major Thai boxing and international boxing matches such as the first world’s boxing champion match of Pon Kingpet and Pascual Pérez on 16 April 1960, and Thai and international boxing championships. The boxers who win at this stadium are seen as Thailand’s champions. There is always much gambling when two champions meet in the same category at the stadium. Originally, Lumpini Boxing Stadium was located on Rama 4 Road, Lumpini, Pathumwan, adjacent to the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School (the original one) and has since relocated to the compound of the Royal Thai Army Sports Center, Ramintra Road, km 2. The stadium runs boxing matches every Tuesday and Friday from 18.00-23.00 pm, and Saturday from 16.00-22.00 pm, except Buddhist holidays.
